Middle School Public Forum Program
When: September 12th- December 19th
Open to 7th and 8th graders.
As students who have formerly gone through middle school debate programs, we understand how important it is to get exposure to debate in middle school. We firmly belief that the experience we got in middle school debate gave us a significant advantage in high school. Now, we want to give that same advantage to other kids. Our program is uniquely designed to teach kids the most important concepts and skills that they will need to succeed in high school. As students who have achieved every metric of success in debate, we know exactly what it takes to help students, no matter what skill level they start at, become champions.
If you want your child to have an advantage over their peers and start of their high school debate career strong, this year round program is for you.
Cost: $510 per semester ($200 cheaper than current middle school programs!) All the proceeds go to organizations that have the same goals and values that Advocate works towards.
Our results speak for themselves. A team we coached for less than a week reached semifinals at their first tournament.
What Makes Us Unique?
-
Experience.
Most high school students don’t attend their first tournament or have their first real round until months have passed into the school year. At Advocate, we believe that experience is the key to success. Our students will have practice debates as often as possible, debating against high school students and even students from different schools. All graduates of our middle school program will come into high school with a significant advantage compared to their peers, because they have already honed their skills and learned the fundamentals.
-
Taught By Champions.
The reason why other middle school programs are ineffective is because they employ instructors who use outdated methods. Advocate is for students, by students. Our instructors are national champions who have achieved the pinnacle of success, and they know exactly what it takes to transform students from novices to champions. Furthermore, our instructors are not just good debaters; they have a proven track record of helping students become successful. Our instructors include the President of the Carroll Speech and Debate Team (one of the largest and most successful teams in the country), Public Forum Captains, and instructors who have prior experience teaching middle school debate. We will help kids learn the tips and strategies that will give them a shortcut to success even before they reach high school.
-
Personalized Instruction.
Most students who go through middle school programs never improve. Why? Most middle school programs conveniently ignore one simple fact: every kid is different. They develop mass curriculums that usually lead to all kids never fully reaching their potential. At Advocate, our goal is to help every student reach their maximum potential. At Advocate, each instructor will also form a close relationship with each student, and get to know their individual strengths and weaknesses. Our instructors will develop personalized strategies for every student that are guaranteed to help them improve because it was made for them.
